On April 4, Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereafter, "Murata") confirmed that an employee at the Takefu Factory of Fukui Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereafter, “the site”), has tested positive for COVID-19.
1. Status of employee
On April 4th an employee of Murata, working in Fukui Prefecture has recently tested positive for COVID-19. The person who had already been in isolation since April 2nd suffered a fever on the April 3rd where he shortly was tested at a local center. The employee is experiencing mild symptoms and will remain in self-isolation from his home.
2. Current status of factory operation
In consideration of the health and safety of all the employees on site, we will suspend operations from the 5th to 7th April, requesting all employees to remain at home. This employee belongs to the staff department (non-production sector), and all employees in close working proximity have already been on standby at home since April 3.
We are taking measures to ensure the facility is cleaned and any members who have been in contact with the employee will be requested to stay home for a further 14 days in accordance with government guidelines.
We sincerely apologize for any anxiety or concern that this may cause people in the immediate and surrounding regions. We are treating this as a global issue and will further enhance our communication with our local teams from other plants and offices to ensure the well-being and safety of our employees and local communities.
