3. SysBase

The “SysBase” name has been coined for Murata evaluation kits because they allow customers to evaluate, at characteristic levels, components that form the basis of system design. A SysBase package includes an evaluation board, an operating manual, and an optional tool. The evaluation board consists of the device to be evaluated, e.g. a sensor, and its peripheral circuit. Figure 5 shows the external appearance of the SysBase evaluation board for a pyroelectric infrared sensor.
Using the technical information available in the operating manual, the customer can select the best circuit constant value by adjusting the parameter while watching the characteristic curve. An optional tool is available that allows use of a PC for easier characteristic curve measurement. It allows the customer to evaluate the component without using an oscilloscope or a data logger. The PC-based evaluation is schematically represented in Fig. 6.
This process is followed by a further evaluation step. A component with the circuit constant selected is mounted on an evaluation board, which is then added to the customer equipment for evaluation in a realistic environment.
