Murata Manufacturing’s Efforts to Preserve Water Resources

Water resource issues significantly impact not only corporate activities, but people’s everyday lives as well – for example through floods, droughts, and water pollution. In order to continue growing sustainably, Murata’s business management strategy considers sustainable water resources a key issue. In addition to promoting the use of recycled equipment-cooling water by raising its established temperature, Murata also reuses over 90% of its wastewater from production processes as cleaning water. This is achieved by recycling factory wastewater using reverse osmosis*2. In addition to disclosing the amount of water used at Murata in a manner recognized by an external agency, the company is also working on strategies and water risk analyses, such as floods that would greatly impact corporate activities.
