Summary
M2M is the abbreviation of Machine to Machine, and refers to automatically controlled systems that exchange information between networked machines without human intervention. This is a concept that is attracting much attention even within IoT.
Main items to be exhibited
Solutions for linking LPWA and BLE tags
LPWA (Low Power Wide Area, a low cost wireless network capable of covering a wide area with low power consumption) is a wireless communication network technology for IoT. Murata will present LPWA solutions for IoT that combine Murata’s software technology and the SIGFOX* and Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) modules that Murata is presently developing for SIGFOX, the first system to provide commercial LPWA service in Japan. By combining gateways equipped with SIGFOX/BLE functions and tags equipped with BLE functions, people, car, and object “conditions” in various “places” located throughout a wide area can be managed using a cloud platform. Murata will propose useful solutions for cases such as “whose cars” are parked in “which parking lots?” (parking share service), “what packages” are stored in “which trucks?” (package management), and “who’s home” in “which houses?” (home management system) in order to solve redelivery problems for home delivery services, which are quickly becoming a social issue. Murata plans to demonstrate applications linked with the IoT cloud platform “CUMoNoSU” created by Murata’s development partner Micro Technology Co., Ltd.

Wi-Fi audio solutions
Murata will present solutions for realizing audio playback via Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi has the merit of a wider band than Bluetooth, which enables wireless transfer without cutting the pitch range and lowering the quality of the sound source. This achieves music playback with extremely high sound quality. Murata will demonstrate a simple solution that combines wireless LAN Smart modules and speakers to realize Wi-Fi audio, letting attendees experience the actual sound quality.
Wireless Smart module solutions
Murata will exhibit solutions for the IoT market using a wireless Smart module that integrates an MPU (micro processing unit) and Wi-Fi (11b/g/n) + Bluetooth 4.1 functions into a compact package. This provides a fuller development environment that facilitates development of IoT devices equipped with wireless functions. Murata and its development partner, Ubiquitous Corporation, will jointly demonstrate this application as an example of a turnkey solution that enables market introduction of IoT devices in a short period of time.
