On April 13, Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, "Murata") confirmed that an employee at our group company, Izumo Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “the site”), working in the plant in Izumo City has tested positive for COVID-19.
1. Status of the employee
As a customer of a restaurant in Shimane Prefecture which reported cases of COVID-19 infection on April 9 (announced by Matsue City on the same day), the employee tested positive on a PCR test on April 13.
2. Current status of the site
In consideration of the health and safety of all the employees, we will suspend operations from April 14 to 16 at the site (excluding the Iwami Plant). We will proceed to promptly disinfect the building where the employee worked and any related facilities the employee may have used.
No employees were determined to have been in close contact with the employee. But as a precaution, 61 employees who have been in contact with the employee will be requested to stay home for a further 14 days from April 14 in accordance with government guidelines.
3. Infection control practices at our company and group companies
・Working from home as a rule (excluding employees in manufacturing and other departments who are required to come to work in the course of their duties)
・Taking of temperatures before coming to work and staggered working hours for employees who are required to come to work in the course of their duties
・Refraining from holding events, social gatherings, meetings lasting more than 60 minutes, or training sessions
・Prohibition in principle of business trips both in Japan and overseas
・Requesting business partners to postpone their visits
・Refraining from going out in private, including with family members
・Prohibition of business trips to the Izumo Murata Manufacturing for the time being
We will continue to instruct our employees and implement these preventive measures to prevent the spread of infection.
