Note

  • *1.

This data covers 95% and over of Murata Group based on SBT criteria.

  • *2.

Amounts less than the specified unit are rounded off, so the breakdown and total may not match. We have recalculated the GHG emissions for FY2019 and FY2020 based on the SBT calculation criteria.

  • *3.

    Scope2 CO2 calculation method
Up through fiscal 2018: Location-based (calculated using the average CO2 emission coefficient for the power network in that region)
From fiscal 2019: Market-based (calculated using the CO2 emission coefficient for each power purchase agreement)
The calculation method was changed because market-based calculation is more accurate and has become the mainstream method used in recent years.

  • *4.

Total energy consumption is the total amount of purchased power converted into primary energy. Totals will therefore differ from numbers in tables.

  • *5.

    Domestic group companies in Japan.

  • *6.

Recycled volume: refers to everything other than landfill disposal.

  • *7.

Recycling rate: Because the total emission volumes and recycled volumes listed have been rounded, the amounts may not exactly match the actual calculated volumes.

  • *8.

Hazardous waste volume: Waste as defined by the laws of each country. In Japan, it refers to specially controlled industrial waste.

  • *9.

Landfilled volume: In Japan, we have maintained zero landfilling since fiscal 2003 with the exception of waste that must be landfilled as the appropriate method of treatment.

  • *10.

Volume consumed: calculated by subtracting waste-water volume from water-intake volume.

  • *11.

Recycling rate: Calculated by dividing recycled volume by the sum of recycled volume and water intake volume.

  • *12.

Serious legal violation: A violation involving administrative penalties and punishment such as suspension of production, fines, cleanup orders, etc.

  • *13.

Serious environmental incident: A cross-boundary legal transgression.
