In the first half of last year, we set new records for both sales and operating income. I am deeply grateful for all of your hard work.
The growth of smartphones and the spread of LTE will continue this year, while the automotive market will see the further expansion of hybrid cars and electric vehicles accompanied by continued increases in demand for electronic components. We need to put a flexible framework in place to cope with rising demand and the ebb and flow of demand fluctuations.
According to our mid-term direction 2018, which kicks off in fiscal 2016, we will focus on the automotive, healthcare, and energy markets and firmly reinforce our foundations over the next three years. I would like each and every one of you to take mid-term direction 2018 to heart, define and tackle your own challenges, and unlock your future. Let‘s take on new business domains and pursue sustainable growth.
