Tohoku Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. continuously creates cutting-edge electronic components in its role as a member of the corporate group of Murata Manufacturing, a global comprehensive electronic component manufacturer.
We were the first company in the world to succeed in commercializing lithium ion secondary batteries, and also the first to make the shift to mercury-free silver oxide batteries. Furthermore, we obtained the world’s first safety certification under the UL1973 standard for stationary storage batteries. This was acquired in relation to energy storage systems using the FORTELION lithium ion secondary battery, which uses olivine type lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material. It was these businesses that we inherited when we began operating in the Tohoku region in September 2017.
Our headquarters are located in Koriyama-shi, Fukushima, and we have also established a manufacturing site in neighboring Motomiya-shi. In addition, we work with our overseas sites, which include locations in Singapore and Wuxi, China, as well as our partner companies, on the development, design, and manufacture of the lithium ion secondary batteries and energy storage systems that are our key products.
As the company at the core of the Murata Group’s energy business, we continue to contribute to creating an environmentally friendly society, as well as to building safer and more prosperous lives for people everywhere. We also support establishing environments in which each and every employee and stakeholder working here can participate fully as innovators who drive transformation and growth.
