Community Scholarship "Bringing Educational Success to the Youth”

Scholars

Access to a quality education is a crucial factor in the future opportunity, success, and potential of a child. PSA's Annual Poverty Indicators Survey for the 2022–2023 school year indicates that 18.6% of Filipinos between the ages of 5 and 24 do not attend school. One of the reasons include high cost of education or financial problems. To help alleviate this concern, Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. has launched a community scholarship “Bringing Educational Success to The Youths” which focuses on the provision of educational assistance to students who have passed a certain criteria. It is a long-term educational program that directly supports qualified college students. Alongside the scholarship support, all scholars will be part of the company’s employability program wherein they are welcome to apply for certain positions available in Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc.

We work closely with numerous local government units in the implementation of this program. Our partnership remains consistent with the stakeholders that have the same values and goals. Since its launch, Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. is helping 25 scholars and will continue to assist more students in the future.

Tondo Outreach Program

Tondo outreach

Our country's future lies with its children. Nonetheless, it is astounding how many children in the Philippines live in poverty. Hunger, insufficient access to high-quality care, and violations of children's rights are all brought on by this problem. To contribute to addressing this social issue, Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. is partnering with New Life Tondo to organize an annual outreach program for the children.

Every year, we help a neighborhood in Tondo, specifically Barangay 105 Happy Land, by giving hundreds of families and children groceries and food packages. This activity aims to bring hope and happiness among the children of Tondo and to continuously strengthen our relationship with the local communities. We prepare interactive activities that fosters a sense of enjoyment and belongness for the children. Our top management is actively contributing to this initiative by taking the lead and actively participating in this annual project. This activity is participated by number of Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. employees who likewise want to share joy and blessings to children and families. Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. is committed to continually establish long-term bond to different stakeholders with the common goal to support the welfare of local communities.

Pahiyas Festival Pahiyas Festival

What is Pahiyas Festival?
Filipinos are known as a creative, hospitable, and fun-loving folk; hence town fiestas and vibrant festivals are being celebrated here and there. Among these festivals, the small town of Lucban in Quezon Province takes pride for the Feast of San Isidro, or famously known as Pahiyas Festival in the Philippines, as the most colorful festival to honor the patron saint of farmers, San Isidro de Labrador for the bountiful harvest. It is being held every May 15th in the province.

The Lucbanin folks adorn their houses with fruits, vegetables, and colorful leaf-shaped wafers made from rice and food coloring, known as kiping. Each household has the chance to win cash and other prizes during the competition of the most creative house design. The word ‘pahiyas’ was derived from the word ‘payas’, which means decoration or to decorate.

Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. joins the Pahiyas Festival. After 2 years of hiatus due to pandemic, Lucban has opened their town again for the festivalgoers this year and prepared more than a week-long of various activities to boost the tourism such as singing contest, beauty pageant, cooking contests, carabao parade, exhibits, and a lot more!

The Corporate Communications Team joined the festival on May 12, 2023, for the very first time. To establish a new partnership with the municipality, Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. sponsored the cash prizes and subsidy for the Agri-Paligsahan (farm-to-table contest) and the Bikas Gayak (parade). The team also set up a booth for promotional campaigns such as giving out brochures, fan, and bottled water to the locals and visitors.

Message from the Municipal Mayor On behalf of the municipality of Lucban, Quezon, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to President Masayoshi Koda for their support and sponsorship with the 2023 Pahiyas Festival. Such generous support has made a tremendous impact with the success of the celebration. We are looking forward to your continued partnership for the upcoming medical mission, scholarship, and other projects in the community.

The company’s aim to introduce Murata to a new community doesn’t end in joining the Pahiyas Festival. Job fair and CSR activities are prepared to help the Lucbanin jobseekers and beneficiaries improve their lives and soon, be a part of our ever-growing company. This is in line with our target for 2023 – 2025, which is to conduct more CSR activities and promote our company in the 9 selected areas in Luzon to address environmental and social issues focusing on poverty, health, and lack of education. Our plan this year is to expand our initiatives in Lucban, Quezon, Rosario, Batangas, and Ilocos Norte.

Lastly, Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. does not focus on one area. To be regarded as one of the leading electronics companies in the Philippines, we plan to expand our network to the three main regions of the country – Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao by 2030.
