Summary

The theme for Murata’s booth at CEATEC JAPAN 2014 is “Wireless Sensor Networks.”

Wireless sensor networks are emerging as a key technology area as more and more attention is focused on concepts such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and the Cloud. The Murata booth will feature two display areas devoted to “Wireless Solutions” and “Sensing Solutions,” both of which play core roles in the realization of wireless sensor networks. Demonstrations will feature a variety of sensors and connectivity modules, as well as solutions combining both.

There will also be a display area featuring “Power Solutions,” products contributing to power supply systems to support people’s lives and businesses in settings from the infrastructure to the office and the home.

We hope as many people as possible will visit the Murata booth to view our total solutions, incorporating connectivity module, sensor, and power products, for a wide range of needs.

Outline of exhibited items

Wireless Solutions

Murata provides wireless solutions with support for a variety of communication standards. A wide selection of products, suitable for many different usage scenarios and environments, will be on display.

Highlights

  • Bluetooth® Smart Module
  • WLAN Smart Module
  • Sub-GHz Wireless Connectivity Module
  • Automotive Wi-Fi–Bluetooth® Connectivity Module

Highlight: Baby Life Log Tool

This convenient tool incorporates a Bluetooth® smart module and sensors, making it easy to record a baby’s environment and life rhythms, and linking to a smartphone for management of information. It allows recording of information such as temperature and humidity, the baby’s skin temperature, and how many times the baby’s diapers have been changed. This information can be linked to an electronic mother’s handbook or healthcare facility as well as shared among family members.

Sensing Solutions

With “Wearables/Healthcare,” “Security,” and “Structural Health Monitoring” as the themes, demonstrations will be presented showing how sensors can be used for a variety of applications, ranging from monitoring human activity and monitoring structures such as homes and office buildings to monitoring large-scale structures such as bridges.

Highlights

  • Optical Sensor
  • Capacitive type MEMS Pressure Sensor
  • Film Temperature Sensor
  • Micro Position Sensor

Highlight: Wearable Terminal Demo Unit

An original wearable terminal demo unit exclusive to Murata and incorporating a small and thin yet high-performance optical sensor, film temperature sensor, and air pressure sensor will be featured. The unit enables stress-free collection of health data such as the wearer’s pulse, skin temperature, and level of activity, and may prove useful for preventing illness and maintaining health.

Power Solutions

The featured themes will be power supply systems with reduced power consumption to meet the requirements of data centers in the age of big data; more compact power supplies to meet needs related to the increase in the number of base stations; and energy management systems to implement automated peak power reduction and peak shifting.

Highlights

  • PFC Converter Supporting 3-Phase AC Input
  • DC-DC Converter Supporting High-Voltage DC Supply
  • 2 × 4-inch Standard AC-DC Converter
  • Energy Management System
