Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Murata”) announces that it has confirmed unauthorized access by a third party to its IT environment.
On February 28, Murata became aware of the possibility of unauthorized access and initiated an initial investigation, and on March 1, a full‑scale investigation was commenced. As a result of these investigations, Murata confirmed that unauthorized access had occurred and that data was improperly accessed. Immediately after becoming aware of the potential unauthorized access, Murata established an internal Crisis Response Team and, in cooperation with external cybersecurity experts, has been proceeding with an investigation into the scope of the impact and implementing measures to prevent further damage.
Based on the investigation conducted to date, Murata has confirmed the possibility that information relating to external parties, as well as information belonging to Murata, may have been improperly accessed. Should further investigation identify any new facts or additional impact, Murata will promptly notify the affected parties individually and provide updates through its website and other appropriate channels.
Murata sincerely apologizes to those who may have been affected by this incident, as well as to all other stakeholders, for the concern and inconvenience caused.
