Notice Regarding Unauthorized Access to Our IT Environment (Third Update)

Following our previous announcements regarding the unauthorized access to our IT environment by a third party, Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Murata”) would like to provide an additional update. 

Murata sincerely apologizes once again to all stakeholders who may have been affected by this incident. 

Since our previous announcement on April 6, 2026 (Notice Regarding Unauthorized Access to Our IT Environment (Second Update), we have not identified any further damage resulting from the unauthorized access. 
Our systems are operating normally, and our production and sales activities have not been affected. 
With regard to this matter, we are coordinating with the necessary relevant authorities and implementing appropriate action under their guidance.

Personal information that may have been leaked as a result of the unauthorized access
The data, including personal information, that has, or might have been, unlawfully obtained by a third party is detailed below (as of April 27).

Information received for the purpose of communication or transactions with Murata
Contact details such as full name, email address, and telephone number, plus other information received in connection to transactions regarding Murata

* The personal information that may have been unlawfully obtained varies for each potentially affected individual, and not all of the information listed in this table was unlawfully obtained for each individual.
* With regard to the number of records for each affected data set, information relating to the same individual may have been counted multiple times.

Please note that potential consequences of this incident may include impersonation attacks by third parties, phishing emails, and targeted attacks via SMS, among other forms of attack. However, at present, we have not confirmed that any information that may have been obtained as a result of this incident has been made public on the internet, nor have we confirmed any secondary damage or unauthorized use of information resulting from this incident. We are working in cooperation with external cybersecurity experts to strengthen our monitoring of the circulation and publication of information on the internet. Should new information emerge, we will carefully assess the details and provide an update promptly. 

There is a risk that non-personal information relating to people outside of Murata, such as invoices, contracts, and sales data from certain business partners, may have been obtained by external parties as a result of the unauthorized access. In order to prevent secondary damage, we will refrain from disclosing the details of this information. 


Measures to prevent recurrence
We recognize that ensuring information security is essential for Murata to continue its business operations and remain a company that is trusted by society. We regard the increasing sophistication and complexity of cyberattacks and the rising risk of data breaches as key management risks, and we are continuously working to establish and implement an information security management system based on international standards and the latest threat trends. 
We take this recent incident very seriously, and will therefore review our existing approach to and system for information security management, and make any necessary revisions and enhancements. 

The measures that we have already implemented in light of this incident in order to prevent recurrence are as follows: 
・ Blocking access from suspicious sources to the system that was subject to unauthorized access in the recent incident, and enhancing monitoring
・ Strengthening of access restrictions to prevent unauthorized access to the company network
・ Phased implementation of access restrictions to prevent unauthorized access to key cloud environments
・ Strengthening authentication methods and access rights management to prevent unauthorized logins and impersonation attempts
・ Expansion of the scope of security monitoring and detection rules to enable the early detection of cyberattacks and correspondingly rapid responses
・ Strengthening operational processes related to security management to ensure stable security operations

Furthermore, going forward, we will implement the following measures as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance security monitoring and continuously improve the security of all our systems, both from a technical and an operational perspective: 
・ Continue to thoroughly strengthen authentication methods and access rights management to prevent unauthorized logins and impersonation attempts
・ Continue to enhance detection capabilities and expand the scope of monitoring in preparation for even more sophisticated attacks
・ Strengthen the monitoring of external circulation of company-related information to enable the early detection of breaches
・ Expand regular external security audits and third-party assessments to establish a continuous cycle of security improvement
