Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture, President and Representative Director: Norio Nakajima, hereinafter: “Murata”) has reached an agreement with Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, President and Chief Executive Officer: Yasunari Hirata, hereafter: “Teijin Frontier”) to make PIECLEX Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Yasu-shi, Shiga Prefecture, President and Representative Director: Daiji Tamakura), established jointly with Teijin Frontier, a 100% subsidiary of Murata, effective October 1, 2024.
PIECLEX Co., Ltd. develops, manufactures, and sells original products that make use of the “electric fiber” PIECLEX (hereinafter, “PIECLEX”), and provides fibers and fabrics to apparel manufacturers. In October 2023, PIECLEX Co., Ltd. also began a demonstration of a circular infrastructure called “P-FACTS” that collects plant-derived apparel products and textile products such as PIECLEX and reuses them as compost. In this demonstration, PIECLEX Co., Ltd. has promoted cooperation and co-creation with many stakeholders, including partner companies, local governments, and educational corporations.
In expanding these “P-FACTS” activities, it has become important to gain further support from all stakeholders, and to strengthen cooperation with many textile-related companies. Amid these circumstances, as a result of repeated discussions between Murata and Teijin Frontier on the direction of future collaboration, it was decided that PIECLEX Co., Ltd. will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Murata, and will work to expand and carry on the business using PIECLEX and to spread “P-FACTS.” In addition, Teijin Frontier will employ its advanced knowledge and development capabilities in textiles to focus on the supply of PIECLEX as a material, and will continue collaboration as a partner company in the textile industry.
Following the change in management structure due to this acquisition as a subsidiary, PIECLEX Co., Ltd. will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through supply of “electric fiber” PIECLEX and the promotion of “P-FACTS.”
