Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Murata Manufacturing”) has become the first company in the electronic component manufacturing industry* to successfully create a closed-loop recycling system (hereinafter, “recycling system”) for the silver (hereinafter, “Ag”) used as a key material in Murata Manufacturing’s EMI (electromagnetic interference) filter products.
In the new recycling system, we are working with a partner company that takes the Ag waste generated during the manufacturing process of EMI filter products and converts it back into a raw material that can be used again for the same purpose. The system was introduced in January 2025, and represents the first time that Murata Manufacturing has attempted to establish a recycling model for such a key material. We will continue to further expand the scope of the scheme, and thereby contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by promoting manufacturing practices that utilize the recycling of finite, depletable resources.

In recent years, the depletion of resources due to global population growth and the effects of climate change, such as rising sea levels and temperatures, have become far more pressing issues.
