The MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index has been developed by the US-based company MSCI and includes Japanese companies with an exemplary record on the environment, society, and governance (ESG). Murata has been included in it since fiscal 2017.
MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN) has been developed by the US-based company MSCI and is a selection of Japanese companies with a high ratio of women playing active roles. Murata has been included in it since fiscal 2020.

The iSTOXX MUTB Japan Platinum Career 150 Index is an index composed of 150 Japanese companies that actively contribute to employee career development. Murata has been selected for this composite index since 2023.
The S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index determines the composite index weight with TOPIX, a representative stock market index that indicates the trends of the Japanese market, as its universe as well as by focusing on the level of environment data disclosure and carbon efficiency (carbon emission per net sales).
White 500 is a system in which the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry selects and certifies large corporations that practice excellent health management. Murata has been certified for eight consecutive years since 2017.
CDP Climate is a rating given to companies that lead the world in climate change countermeasures through points such as goal settings, initiatives, and information disclosure by the CDP, an international non-profit environmental organization. Murata received an A score*1 in fiscal 2021 and an A- score in fiscal 2022, winning leadership level ratings for two consecutive years.
A Supplier Engagement Leader is a rating that determines if companies are tackling climate change issues efficiently with suppliers and evaluations are made through responses related to 4 fields of investigations related to climate change including “governance, goals, Scope 3 emissions, and value chain engagement” collected by the CDP. Murata has also been selected as the highest rating “Supplier Engagement Leader” since fiscal 2020.
Sustainalytics ESG Risk Ratings are ESG (environmental, societal, and governance) risk assessment results the Sustainalytics company provides institutional investors. The assessments evaluate a company’s management response to the manageable industry-specific risks to which they are exposed. Murata has been rated as a low-risk company.
EcoVadis provides comprehensive evaluation services for company sustainability through a unique and highly reliable joint platform. EcoVadis evaluates over 100,000 companies (in 175 countries, over 200 industry types) in fields including “environment,” “labor and human rights,” “ethics,” and “procurement of sustainable resources.” Following 2022, Murata has once again acquired the "Gold Medal," which was awarded to the top 5% of target businesses in 2023.
