Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (“Murata”), has signed a three-year strategic partnership with Accenture aimed at accelerating manufacturing transformation through the implementation of AI and data utilization.

Under the partnership, Murata will combine the technologies and expertise it has cultivated and the data it has accumulated through many years of manufacturing with Accenture’s expertise in the utilization of AI and data as well as business transformation to promote the implementation of AI and data utilization in manufacturing and related operations. Murata will seek to enhance its manufacturing competitiveness through improvements in aspects such as quality and productivity in order to provide greater value to customers. The company will also work to develop IT infrastructure to support these initiatives as well as strengthen its governance, human resources, and systems.
Under the partnership, Murata and Accenture will set common outcome goals and work together to achieve them. Furthermore, certain initiatives will adopt a mechanism linking some of Accenture’s remuneration to the level of attainment of outcome indicators for a greater commitment to creating results.
Main Initiatives Under the Partnership
1. Enhancing manufacturing competitiveness through the implementation of AI and data utilization
Murata will combine the technologies and expertise it has cultivated and the data it has accumulated through many years of manufacturing with Accenture’s expertise in the utilization of AI and data as well as business transformation to promote the implementation of AI and data utilization in manufacturing and related operations. By pursuing the advancement of data-based quality control and verification in the digital space, the company will seek to enhance its readiness to changes in demand.
2. Reinforcing IT infrastructure and governance to support AI utilization
Murata will pursue improvements to its IT architecture as well as development and maintenance processes so that proper and ongoing utilization of AI leads to business results. The company will also strengthen governance to properly protect and utilize data and intellectual property while developing infrastructure to safely utilize AI on an ongoing basis.
3. Strengthening human resources and systems for AI utilization
Murata will promote the development of human resources responsible for AI utilization and business transformation so that AI utilization leads to business results. The company will also strengthen systems for continually driving this transformation.
Going forward, Murata will work with Accenture through the partnership to enhance its manufacturing competitiveness by steadily promoting the implementation of AI and data utilization, leading to the provision of greater value to customers.
