Murata has received high praise from organizations such as global ESG evaluation organizations and was also selected as a component of the international ESG indexes. Additionally, we have been selected for all domestic stock ESG investment indices chosen by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF).

Morningstar Japan ex-REIT Gender Diversity Tilt Index

The Morningstar Japan ex-REIT Gender Diversity Tilt Index is designed to enable investment focused on companies that have deeply embedded gender diversity policies within their corporate culture and are committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all employees, regardless of gender. The components are divided into five groups, and Murata has been selected for Group 1, the highest-ranking group.

White 500 is a system in which the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry selects and certifies large corporations that practice excellent health management. Murata has been certified for nine consecutive years since 2017.

CDP Climate

CDP Climate is a rating given to companies that lead the world in climate change countermeasures through points such as goal settings, initiatives, and information disclosure by the CDP, an international non-profit environmental organization. Murata won leadership-level ratings for four consecutive years beginning in fiscal 2021 and was selected for CDP’s A List* for the third time in fiscal 2024.

  • The ratings range from the highest leadership level (A, A-), management level (B, B-), awareness level (C, C-), to the information disclosure level (D, D-)

A Supplier Engagement Leader is a rating that determines if companies are tackling climate change issues efficiently with suppliers and evaluations are made through responses related to 4 fields of investigations related to climate change including “governance, goals, Scope 3 emissions, and value chain engagement” collected by the CDP. Murata has also been selected as the highest rating “Supplier Engagement Leader” since fiscal 2020.

Sustainalytics ESG Risk Ratings

Sustainalytics ESG Risk Ratings are ESG (environmental, societal, and governance) risk assessment results the Sustainalytics company provides institutional investors. The assessments evaluate a company’s management response to the manageable industry-specific risks to which they are exposed. Murata has been rated as a low-risk company.

EcoVadis Gold Medal

EcoVadis provides comprehensive evaluation services for company sustainability through a unique and highly reliable joint platform. EcoVadis evaluates over 100,000 companies (in 175 countries, over 200 industry types) in fields including “environment,” “labor and human rights,” “ethics,” and “procurement of sustainable resources.”
Since 2022, Murata has acquired "Gold Medal" which was awarded to the top 5% of target businesses for 3 consecutive years.

ISS ESG is the responsible investment division of the U.S.-based proxy-advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. (ISS). It rates companies on their environmental, social, and governance performance.
