Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
President: Norio Nakajima
The Murata Science Foundation (Chairman: Tsuneo Murata, Chairman of the Board, Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.) has determined the awardees of research grants for fiscal 2023.
This year, 208 recipients will receive 523.69 million yen in funding. Funding for the multiple, three-year grant category that started last year has been increased to further encourage and support long-term research projects. Research grants are also awarded to overseas researchers, with a total of 27.8 million yen being awarded to 46 recipients at five universities this year.
Established to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Murata’s founding, the Murata Science Foundation aims to contribute to the development of Japanese science and culture through grants promoting research in areas of the natural sciences, particularly electronics, humanities, and social sciences. This year marks the 39th year that grants have been awarded.
Grants fall into three programs: Research, Conference, and Overseas Research. This fiscal year brings the cumulative total amount of grants provided to about 5.83 billion yen, as the Murata Science Foundation has continued since its establishment to provide ongoing and high-value grants that contribute to the wide-ranging development of science and culture. The foundation is particularly interested in fostering the work of budding young researchers.
